WORLD’S SMALLEST* MINT* 1927-1935, German, VenusWaffenfabrik Tell II .177 Calibre Break Action Air Pistol. Sn 14955 - 14955
Venus Waffenfabrik of Mehlis Germany produced the Tell II Air pistol between 1927 & 1935. It is made of tin plate and measured 5 ½” overall length. It was advertised as 'The World's smallest spring piston Air Pistol' (see pages 157 & 158 of The Collectors Guide To Air Pistols by Hiller). Its unique concentric design made it the Father of several full size Air Pistols. Before cocking the pistol, a lever is swung out from the rear of the grip to afford mechanical advantage while cocking is performed. The Pistols were only made in No 1 Bore/ .177 calibre. This Tell II .177 Air pistol is in near mint condition with original finish throughout. Its original flat chequered wood grips are in similar excellent undamaged condition. The top of the compression cylinder is correctly stamped by the manufacturer 'D.R.G.M Tell II D.R.P' including the Venus Waffenfabrik factory combined 'V & W ' designation. SOLD. SOLD (04/11). RARE, 1930-1935 1st Type Webley Senior .177 Calibre Air Pistol With Straight Grips. Sn 15438 - 15438
This is a rare 1st type Webley Senior .177 Calibre Air pistol. These pistols were made between 1930 & 1935 (see page 214 of Hiller's book The Collector's Guide To Air Pistols). It is undamaged with original finish and black grips with Webley signature roundels. The left side of the cylinder is stamped 'The Webley Senior Made In England' together with British & International Patents. The right side is stamped 'Webley & Scott Ltd, Birmingham and with Webley International Patents'. The forward barrel block is stamped '.177' (calibre). The left side of the frame is stamped serial number 'S3467' & the front of the cylinder stamped with matching number '467'. 1946-1956 British Accles & Shelvoke Ltd 'Acvoke' Break Action .177 Calibre Air Pistol. Sn 12995 - 12995
Accles and Shelvoke Ltd of Birmingham manufactured 'Acvoke' Air Pistols and Slaughterhouse Weapons. Acvoke .177 air pistols were produced from 1946 to 1956 (see page 12 of Collectors Guide To Air Pistols 3rd Edition by Hiller). It has an innovational concentric design similar to the Earlier German 'Tell II' Air pistol but on a larger more powerful scale. Before cocking the pistol a lever is swung out from the rear grip to afford mechanical advantage while the cocking operation is performed. This is an excellent example of the .177 Calibre, Accles & Shelvoke Ltd break action Air Pistol. It has black plastic, ribbed slab grips. All metal and grips are undamaged. The grips are embossed with the 'Acvoke' trademark logo. The back strap is stamped 'Pellet Gauge' & has the correct .177 calibre pellet gauge hole. The breech plate is correctly stamped with the manufacturer's detail 'Accles and Shelvoke Ltd, Patent Applied For, Birmingham Eng ( England)'. 1945-1949 Webley Senior .22 Calibre Air Pistol With Brown Grips. Sn 13816 - 13816
This is a Webley Senior air pistol made in the early post War years 1945-1949 (see pages 80 & 81 of Webley Air Pistols’ by Bruce’). It is undamaged with brown plastic chequered grips correctly with Webley signature roundels. The left side of the cylinder is stamped 'The Webley Senior Made In England' together with 'oil here' and arrow indicator pointing to the oil hole located on top of the cylinder. The right side is stamped 'Webley & Scott Ltd, Birmingham' (C1949 the Birmingham factory post code 4 was added to the address). The cylinder has the pre WW2 patents indicating that this pistol could have been manufactured using pre WW2 and post WW2 parts. In the early post war years the patents were abbreviated to ‘Webley Patents’. The frame has serial number ‘S7427’. The forward barrel block is stamped '.22S' calibre & the front of the cylinder stamped with matching number '427'. The barrel has the correct early knurled section introduced early post WW2. The rear of the breech retention screw has the pre war wording ‘not to be removed’ which is not found on post C1949 Webley Seniors. It has a blade foresight & adjustable rear sight. The pistol cocks and fires perfectly with a strong spring action. The price includes UK delivery. 1931- 1939 Accles & Shelvoke Ltd .177 Calibre Side Lever Warrior Air Pistol. AI 655 - AI 655
In the 1930's, Accles and Shelvoke Ltd of Birmingham manufactured 'Acvoke' Air Pistols and Slaughterhouse Weapons. Between 1931 and 1939 the company produced their Warrior Air pistol. This is a very good original .177 calibre example of the Warrior. It measures 8" overall with a 7" rifled barrel. It retains its original blue finish. It is side lever loading & has a post foresight & adjustable rear sight. Its black chequered vulcanite grips are excellent and undamaged and have Accles and Shelvoke trademark 'Medieval Helmet' roundels. The left side of the frame is stamped 'THE WARRIOR MADE MADE IN ENGLAND'. The right 'PATENT No's. BRIT 351268 USA 538057'. The pistol cocks & fires with a strong spring action. MINT, Boxed, 1953-83, German, Walther LP 53, .177 Calibre, Air Pistol With Black Walther Banner Grips & Accessories. Sn 15380 - 15380
The LP53 (Luft pistole/ Air Pistol) was produced between 1953 and1983. It is a .177 calibre air pistol with the same design lines as Walther's famous .22 LR Olympia target pistol. The LP53 is all metal with beautifully formed plastic grip panels. Movie posters for early James Bond films show Bond holding an LP 53 or Olympia pistol instead of his usual service PPK. This LP53 is in near mint condition with excellent finish to the metalwork and black plastic contoured grips with Walther banners. It has target sights and is stamped on the left side of the frame with the Walther banner and patent detail 'LP Mod 53 Cal 4.5 (.177)' together with 'Made In Germany' & serial number '031479'. The pistol functions perfectly and is contained in its cardboard box with removable lid and Walther labelling. The box contains its original wood cocking aid, replacement fore and rear sight blades, brass cleaning rod, factory test target & Walther instruction / warning leaflet. Spanish Cometa ‘Indian’ .177 Calibre Lever Action Single Shot Air Pistol. AI 654 - AI 654
These air pistols are made by the Spanish arms company Cometa. The modern military look pistol has a large blued alloy and steel frame. It measures 11” overall length and has undamaged composite grips. The cocking lever is marked with model and calibre detail and the air cylinder has serial numbers (all illustrated). It has a blade fore sight and block rear sight. To cock the Indian, first push on the safety catch, then holding the grip firmly with the right hand, take hold of the cocking arm with the left, and pull up and round in a sweeping arc until the trigger engages, holding back the piston. Now return the lever all the way back and let it drop down into its main rest position. The pop out breech tray will automatically be exposed at the rear of the action, and a pellet can be gently nudged into place in the loading groove. Close the breech, and finally nudge off the safety catch, the pistol is then ready to fire. The pistol’s loading and firing mechanism works correctly with a strong spring action. Post 1958 ‘The Webley Mark 1’ .22 Calibre Air Pistol. AI 653 - AI 653
This is a good 'The Webley Mark 1 Air Pistol'. These pistols were manufactured at the Webley Birmingham 4 factory Post WW2 To 1958. Production continued at their Handsworth factory into the 1960's (see pages 71 to 73 of Bruce's book Webley Air Pistols). It has all original metal work with original finish which has areas of light pitting and wear consistent with age and use. It has undamaged black chequered grips. The left side of the cylinder is stamped 'The Webley Mark 1 Made In England'. The left side also has the correct oil hole marked 'Oil' with arrow indicator. The right side of the cylinder is marked 'Webley & Scott Ltd Birmingham' ( the Birmingham 4 post code was removed after 1958) together with Webley Patents. It has an adjustable rear sight & the barrel strap beneath the blade fore sight is stamped 'MK 1 .22' (calibre). The frame is stamped with serial number ‘52887’. The front of the cylinder is stamped with matching serial number '887'. The pistol cocks and fires with a strong spring action. The price includes UK delivery.
